Age spots

As we age, unsightly blemishes – commonly called age spots – can appear. These normally result from sun damage, hormones or genetics.

Why treat age spots?

Age spots and hyperpigmentation usually occurs in adults over 40, but younger people can also get them if they spend a lot of time in the sun.

Age spots and pigmentation can appear on the face and on the back of the hands. The spots - also called lentigines, lentigos or liver spots - are sharply defined, rounded, brown or black, flat patches of skin. The most common colour is brown, but they can also be red or almost black.

Although age spots are very common, many people find them unsightly and wish to diminish their appearance.
