Microneedling is widely used for skin rejuvenation. We use microneedling in combination with anti-ageing serums and cocktails containing growth factors, hyaluronic acid, antioxidants and other proprietary ingredients. What should I expect?
On the day of the procedure, a topical local anaesthetic cream will be applied for 30 to 45 minutes prior to treatment.
After visually dividing the skin into sections (forehead, cheek, nose, chin, upper lip, eyebrow and glabella), the therapist will hold the skin, and with minimal pressure move the medical device over the skin, by using brief, back and forth motions, in all directions.
Specific areas will be targeted to ensure the entire area receives repetitive needling. The aim is to obtain uniform redness and pinpoint bleeding throughout the skin. The skin will then be cleansed gently and disinfected. Finally, serums such as hyaluronic acid will be applied.
What is collagen induction therapy?
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is accomplished by micro-puncturing the skin with the needles of the DermaPen, resulting in mechanical stimulation of the dermis (deeper layer of the skin).
The needles of the DermaPen cause micro-wounds in the skin. These wounds initiate a healing process as the fibroblasts (cells in the skin) begin producing new collagen and elastin. The degree of dermal stimulation depends on the depth and oscillation of the needles. Deep dermal needling significantly increases dermal collagen production and deposition.
How does Dermapen work?
The Dermapen process is also known as ‘skin needling’, 'microneedling' or ‘collagen induction therapy’. This procedure is proven to stimulate new collagen production in the skin to give smoother, brighter and younger-looking skin.
